Taittinger

The wine's color is brilliant pale yellow with silver highlights from the elevated proportion of Chardonnay. The subtle, fresh nose leads from mineral aromas into floral and elderflower scents offset by spice and cinnamon notes. On the palate, the wine shows ripe white peach flavors with hints of fresh citrus in a profusion of fine, lasting, delicately creamy bubbles. The finish is long and expressive.

Wine Enthusiast

Made only from grand cru vineyards, this latest release from Taittinger is in a crisp and dry style, profiting from ripe fruit, lifted with citrus and kiwi fruit flavors, a pure line of acidity and a hint of soft toast.

Score: 91. —Roger Voss, November 30, 2009.

Wine Spectator

Lovely. Firm and on the dry side, with pencil shaving, citrus and candied berry notes. Elegant yet well-toned, it shows intensity and character from beginning to end and stays persistent through the long finish. Try with light seafood appetizers. Drink now.

Score: 90. —Bruce Sanderson, November 15, 2003.

Wine Advocate

The NV Brut Grand Cru Prelude offers up smoke, brioche and spicy oak in a rich, creamy style. The Prelude shows more depth and textural richness owing to its five years on the lees than the linear La Francaise, in a discernibly sweeter style. The wine-s balance and length are commendable. This is a beautiful version of the Prelude. Disgorged: mid-May, 2008, (not indicated on label). Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014.

Score: 90. —Antonio Galloni, December 2009.
