Glen Carlou Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Glen Carlou First release of a Cabernet Sauvignon in the classic range at Glen Carlou in 13 years. Color: Deep purple red with a bright, youthful tinge Aroma: Nutmeg, cloves and aniseed backed up with vanilla spice. Flavor: Mulberry, raspberry and herbal notes enter with a crisp acidity. Finish: Intense, fruit-driven character with a solid, tannin backbone for maturation. Wine Enthusiast The nose starts with a delicate aroma of minerals, black currant and spice, and on the palate, layers of anise, cracked pepper and clove add a soulful touch. Sturdy tannins and a vibrant overall fruit profile give the wine a lift, but the package is balanced and smooth. Score: 90. —Susan Kostrzewa, November 15, 2008.Wine Spectator A nice core of raspberry and currant fruit is held together by dark toast and licorice notes. Drink now through 2009. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. Score: 89. —James Molesworth, April 30, 2008.
