Marcarini

The wine has a garnet-color and ruby-red reflections with a slight orange note. The nose is ethereal, fresh, elegant and very persistent, with hints of violet, rose, liquorice and sweet spices. In the mouth the flavor is long and intense.

Wine Advocate

The 2006 Barolo La Serra is full of fresh, perfumed berries. Focus, length and energy are the hallmarks of this impeccable, classy Barolo. As is often the case, La Serra is a touch more compact than the estate’s Barolo Brunate, but in 2006 La Serra is particularly successful. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026.

Score: 91. —Antonio Galloni, February 2010.

Wine Enthusiast

Here’s an earthy, savory expression of Barolo from the prized La Serra cru that truly shows Nebbiolo typicity. You’ll recognize aromas of iron and mineral backed by cola, white mushroom, tar and cassis fruit. That earthy personality is followed by drying, dusty tannins and the wine is exceptionally long on the finish.

Score: 91. —Monica Larner, December 01, 2010.

Wine Spectator

Ripe, with plum, leather and spice notes, all backed by fresh acidity and firm tannins. This is elegant, needing time for the tannins to mellow. Well-balanced overall. Best from 2013 through 2024.

Score: 91. —Bruce Sanderson, February 28, 2011.
