Santa Ema

Color: Deep, bright red. Aroma: Classic and elegant, with aromas of red fruits, prunes, and cherries that blend with notes of tobacco and vanilla that lend great complexity. Palate: Intense and well-structured with ripe tannins. A mouthfilling wine with tremendous fruit expression that is reflected in the ample and long finish. Pairing Suggestion: Drink with ripe cheeses, beef, stews, and well-seasoned dishes. Also ideal with pork with plum sauce.

Wine Spectator

Dark and lush, but pure and driven, with gorgeous mouthfeel to the well-defined licorice snap, black Mission fig, currant paste, Kenya AA coffee and graphite notes. Long finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère. Drink now through 2012.

Score: 92. —James Molesworth, February 28, 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2007 Catalina is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Carmenere, and 7% Cabernet with an expressive nose, spicy flavors, good aging potential, and a sense of elegance. Give it 3-4 years of additional bottle age and drink it for 2013 to 2022 if not longer.

Score: 91. —Jay Miller, December 2010.
