Sbragia Family

With this wine, Adam and I like to let the integrity of the grand old Monte Rosso vineyard shine through, keeping the intense fruit flavors – black cherry, wild blackberry – front and center, then bolstering it with just enough oak to add structure and interesting notes of spice. A touch of Cabernet Franc adds a subtle minerality, broadening the complex mix of flavors. This wine has the profile of a refined, old-vine Cabernet – sleek, stylish and alluring, with a plush texture and long expressive finish.

Wine Advocate

Although still tightly-knit and backward, the dense purple-tinged 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso is bursting with abundant loamy soil/earthy terroir notes. Like many of these offerings, it represents a very fine value in high class Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. Composed of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, this offering from one of the great heritage sites in northern California possesses sweet blackberry, black cherry, dusty, loamy, earthy notes intermixed with hints of spice box and unsmoked high class cigar tobacco. Full-bodied with abundant sweet tannins, this 2007 will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and should drink well for 15-20+ years.

Score: 91. —Robert Parker, December 2010.
