Signorello

The reticent nose opens to boysenberry, mulberry, vanilla, tobacco and hints of chocolate. The lush full-bodied palate continues with flavors of boysenberry, raspberry and hints of vanilla. The long and lingering finish is accentuated by the young integrated tannins. A wine to lay down and improve in the bottle for the next 20 years.

Wine Advocate

The 2007 Padrone Proprietary Red (84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc) offers up gorgeous aromas of incense, creme de cassis, Asian spice and subtle background oak. Rich, concentrated and multidimensional, this may be the finest red wine I have ever tasted from Ray Signorello. It still has some tannins to resolve and the finish is 40-seconds long. Cellar it for 3-4 years and drink it over the following 20-25.

Score: 94+. —Robert Parker, December 2010.

Wine Spectator

Impressive for its structure, complexity, range of flavors and focus, with firm, ripe black fruits, dried currant, blackberry, black licorice, mocha and cedary graphite notes that tighten on the finish, when the fine-grained tannins take grip. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2011 through 2020. 940 cases made.

Score: 93. —James Laube, October 31, 2010.

Wine Enthusiast

The grapes are from the winery's estate vineyard. The wine is made in the modern style, which is soft, ripe and oaky. It's quite delicious, showing ripe, lush blackberry and black currant fruit, as well as caramelized wood notes. Ready now-2015.

Score: 92. —Steve Heimoff, December 15, 2010.
