Tablas Creek The 2007 Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc is a powerful expression of the 2007 vintage at Tablas Creek. It shows aromas of rose petals, candied lemon, honeycomb, white pepper, and sweet oak, rich Roussanne flavors of honey and sweet spice and long, dry, slightly tropical finish. It should drink well when young but will also reward time in bottle; we expect it to show beautifully for at least the next 8-10 years.
Food Pairings: Cooked shellfish (lobster, softshell crab, shrimp); Roasted or grilled vegetables (eggplant, asparagus, peppers); Foods cooked with garlic and olive oil; Rich fish dishes (i.e., salmon, swordfish); Asian stir fry.
Wine Advocate
The prodigious 2007 Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc (68% Roussanne, 22% Grenache Blanc, and 10% Picpoul) is one of the finest white Rhone Rangers I have tasted. A beautiful bouquet of orange blossoms, honeysuckle, lemon zest, quince, and white flowers is followed by a full-bodied wine with stunning concentration, layered flavors, and good underlying minerality as well as acidity. This sensational wine should provide immense pleasure over the next 3-5 years.
Score: 93.

Wine Enthusiast
This is an hommage to the owning family’s white Rhône wine from France. It’s a crisp, minerally wine, firm and clean and dry, with flavors of dried citrus fruits, orange peel, honeysuckle flower, vanilla and toast. Shows real elegance and sophistication.
Score: 91.

Wine Spectator
Appealing for its smoky overtones, medium body, waxy texture and broad apple and citrus flavors. A mouthwatering acidity adds lightness and clarity to the Meyer lemon, peach, pear and spice details. Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Picpoul Blanc.
Score: 89.

James Suckling
I rate wines using the 100-points scale. I have used this point system for close to 25 years. I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
