This is gorgeous, with light cinnamon, black tea and powdered star anise notes inlaid into a streamlined and silky core of crushed cherry and raspberry fruit. The long, perfumy finish weaves like incense smoke in the air as a subtle minerality plays out. Drink now through 2021. 250 cases imported.

The 2015 Black Bream Pinot Noir comes from the same vineyard as the Fire Heath Chardonnay in Walker Bay. I found here that the aromatics do not possess quite the same definition as the Reservoir Road Pinot Noir, although there are black plum and raspberry coulis aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a little gruff at the moment with a touch of rigidness on the finish. Give it a year in bottle. I would be intrigued to taste the 2016, which apparently is very different in style.
