This wine is formidably structured, grippy and oaky, with substantial concentration. It speaks to cedar, dried herb and toasted oak, with cinnamon and nutmeg accents along the way. Dark in color, the inky density drips in blackberry and currant.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Bottled has been blended with 5% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. It has a medium to deep ruby color and nose of cassis, blackcurrant bud, baker's chocolate, cedar, Morello cherries and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, it has a good core of minerally fruit with firm, chewy tannins, good freshness and a long, earthy finish.

Roasted herb and tobacco leaf notes are liberally infused into the core of steeped plum and blackberry flavors in this red. A pretty hefty dose of toast holds sway on the finish, while the fruit and herb notes try to push through. Ends with a bit of rusticity. Drink now through 2024.
